Facebook users can now annoy everyone sitting in their TV Room by streaming Facebook app video directly to their Apple TV or Chromecast dongle from their iPhone or iPad.
As of Facebook’s most recent update, when viewing a video in the Facebook app, a small button appears in the upper right-hand corner that, when tapped, offers the option to send the video to any Apple TV or Chromecast device that is connected to the same wireless network as your iOS device.
We’re focused on creating video experiences that people want, and we’ve heard that people want different options for how and where they watch videos that they discover on Facebook. To give you even more ways to watch, we’re excited to roll out the ability to stream videos from Facebook to your TV — through devices like Apple TV or Google Chromecast — so you have the option to enjoy your favorite videos on a bigger screen. You can already stream Facebook videos to Apple TV (and other AirPlay-enabled devices) or Chromecast (and other Google Cast–enabled devices) from an iOS device or your web browser, and soon you’ll be able to cast from Android devices to Chromecast as well.
To watch a video from Facebook on your TV:
Users can continue to stream the video to their HDTV, while browsing the rest of Facebook on their iOS device, in search of the next “must-see” video to show their friend, family, or enemies.
The Facebook app is free, and is available for iOS devices in the App Store. [GET IT HERE]
