Apple on Monday added a banner to its U.S. website, the iTunes Store, and the App Store, asking customers to donate to disaster relief for those affected by Hurricane Matthew. All donations Apple collects will go in full to the Red Cross.
Donations tiers are in the amounts of: $5, $10, $25, $50, $100 and $200, and will be processed the same as regular iTunes or App Store purchases, via the payment option connected to the user’s Apple ID.
Matthew hit the southeast coast of the United States late last week, causing damage in the states of Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina. Over 2 million homes and businesses are left without power, and over 3,000 people are currently being housed in shelters.
Apple CEO Tim Cook tweeted about the relief efforts earlier today:
Our thoughts are with all those affected by #HurricaneMatthew. Support relief efforts by donating to @RedCross at https://t.co/2b9MLALy4L

Apple is known to put out a call for Red Cross donations following natural disasters such as Hurricane Matthew. The Cupertino firm has collected Red Cross relief funds for the 2015 Nepal earthquake, the 2013 Philippines typhoon, the August floods in Louisiana, and a number of other disasters.
