Do you hate having to take the time to listen to voicemails on your iPhone? (Especially from callers who take forever to get to the point.) Then it’s time to learn how to take advantage of the new iOS 10 voicemail transcription feature.
Using Voicemail Transcription in iOS 10
To read a voicemail, simply follow these steps:
- Tap the Phone app icon.
- Tap the Voicemail icon in the lower right-hand corner of the Phone screen.
- Tap the voicemail you wish to read, just as if you were going to listen to the recorded message.
- The voicemail transcription will appear just above the voicemail’s Play Button.
- Read the voicemail. Aloud, if you’d like. (You can still listen to the voicemail if you prefer. That’s really old school, but it’s cool.)
Note: While you don’t need to turn on voicemail transcription, it’s on by default, you will have to be using visual voicemail, which is available on most wireless carriers.
You’ll find the transcription does a fairly good job of translating the caller’s message. However, if any of your friends are low talkers, you might want to listen to the audio version of the message too. You don’t want to end up wearing one of these on the Today show some day:
