Apple’s iOS 10.0.2 Update Offers Fixes for Headphone, Photos, and App Extension Issues

Apple on Friday released the first update to the new iOS 10 operating system. The release of iOS 10.0.2 comes a week and a half after the original release of iOS 10, and two days after the first beta seed of iOS 10.1 to developers.

iOS 10.0.2 can be downloaded as an over-the-air update on all devices running iOS 10.0.1, which was the original iOS 10 release. Go to: “Settings” -> “General” -> “Software Update,” and follow the prompts.

The new update fixes the following issues:

  • Addresses an issue that could prevent headphone audio controls from temporarily not working
  • Resolves an issue that caused Photos to quit for some users when turning on iCloud Photo Library
  • Fixes an issue that prevented enabling some app extensions

Apple had said earlier this week that it was working on a fix for the bug which caused the remote control on Lightning-connected earphones to intermittently stop functioning.

Apple on Wednesday released the first public beta of iOS 10.1 to developers, which included the promised bokeh “Portrait” mode in the Camera app, when used on the new dual-lens rear-facing camera iPhone 7 Plus.
