Apple Making an Effort to Make Things Right for iPhone 7 Customers Affected by iPhone Upgrade Program Pre-Order Issues

You may remember that during last Friday’s iPhone 7 pre-order frenzy, customers who were enrolled in the iPhone Upgrade Program faced some issues when attempting to order an iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus.

Customers enrolled in the program found they could not select the model, carrier, color, or storage capacity they wanted to get their hands on, or in some cases, couldn’t select an iPhone at all. This was reportedly due to the limited stock of the devices.

MacRumors reports the reason for the issues appear to be that the iPhone Upgrade Program members were placed into a separate stream than regular pre-order customers, and were forced to reserve a new iPhone from a local Apple retail store, and many of those were already sold out.

Apple has acknowledged the issue, and is working with affected customers to set things right. The iPhone maker has updated its upgrade reservation page with tiny, tiny print, recommending customers call 1-800-MY-APPLE and mention the iPhone Upgrade Program. A Specialist will then aid the customers by connecting them with the iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus model they are looking for.

Due to high demand, the model you’d like may not be available. Please call 1-800-MY-APPLE and mention the iPhone Upgrade Program. A Specialist will help you find the model you want.

Apple is reportedly quite apologetic to those who have made the call, and manually collects their information while they’re working on a fix for the issue. Customers are being told they’ll receive a call back in 24-48 hours, but no other information about exactly Apple is doing to fix things has been released.
