Sprint Debuts New $60 ‘Unlimited Freedom’ Plan

Sprint has joined the revamped data plan hit parade, as Thursday saw the 4th-ranked carrier announce a new “Unlimited Freedom” plan, offering unlimited talk, text, and 4G LTE data for $60 per month. Customers can add a second line for $40 per month, and up to eight more lines can be added for $30 per month per device.

Taking a cue from T-Mobile, Sprint’s new Unlimited Freedom plan automatically “optimizes” select content, limiting video streams to 480p resolution, gaming to 2 Mbps, and music streams to 500 kbps. The carrier did not mention if tethering is included, of if customers can upgrade to HD video and music for an additional charge, ala T-Mobile’s new “T-Mobile ONE” unlimited data plan.

Sprint’s prepaid Boost Mobile subsidiary is also shaking up its offerings, debuting a new Unlimited Unhook’d plan featuring unlimited talk, text, and 4G LTE data, (with content optimizations), for $50 per month. Users can add up to four additional lines for $30 per month per device.

In addition to the Unlimited Unhook’d plan, Boost Mobile will also offer a $30 Unlimited Starter plan, which includes unlimited talk, text and data with 1GB of 4G LTE data. Customers looking for more high-speed data can add 1 GB of 4G LTE data for $5 per month or 2 GB of 4G LTE data for $10 per month. Multi-line plans are also available for families for an additional $30 a month per line.

The new plans from Sprint and Boost Mobile will both be available for new and existing customers beginning tomorrow, Friday, August 19.
