Matthew Roberts has shared with us his latest 4K drone footage from high above Apple’s “Spaceship” Campus 2 construction project, and construction appears to be coming along nicely.
The footage shows landscaping has already begun, work has started on the garden and pond that will be located in the open area in the middle of the Spaceship.
The huge dirt pile “pyramid” that has been located at the site is starting to shrink in size, as the dirt is being used to cover the parking garage and tunnels. The garage is covered in foam blocks which create the desired shape of the earth covering, and they are being covered by the dirt from the pile.
The sky-high view offers a great look at just how huge this project is, which includes a two-million square foot parking garage, and 100,000 square foot fitness center in addition to the main “Spaceship”office structure itself.
The security kiosk for the campus is taking shape, and construction continues nicely on the main research and development center. (A number of smaller R&D facilities are being built nearby.) The North Tantau Auditorium and visitor parking facilities continue to take shape.
Work also continues on installing solar panels, fuel cells and generators which will be used to power the facility, which – keeping with Apple’s directives – will be powered entirely by clean, renewable energy.
