Apple on Wednesday released the second public beta of its upcoming iOS 10 operating system. The new beta comes two weeks after the release of the first public beta, and trails the third developer beta of the mobile operating system by two days.
The beta is available as an over-the-air update on devices which are enrolled in the Apple public beta testing program, and which have the proper certificate installed on the device. (If you’re in the public beta testing program, you’ll know what that means.)
The second public beta of iOS 10 is likely identical to the third developer beta released on Monday. In that beta seed, Apple reintroduced a new keyboard click sound, haptic feedback when locking an iPhone, and improved 3D Touch Quick Actions on compatible devices.
iOS 10 offers a number of new features and interface tweaks, including a new Lock Screen that includes 3D Touch-enabled notifications, a redesigned Control Center, and a new Widgets Screen. The Lock Screen also offers easier access to the Camera.
Other improvements include improved Messages, featuring handwritten notes, background animations, effects, new emoji, and an App Store for iMessage which will offer new stickers, animations and more for use in the Messages app.
iOS 10 is currently only available to developers, and members of the Apple Public Beta Program. A public release of the new mobile operating system will be released in the fall, alongside the new iPhones.
