Food delivery fanatics take heart, you can now get your GrubHub or Seamless food delivery just slightly faster now, as both food delivery services have added Apple Pay as a payment option. GrubHub rivals Caviar, Door Dash, and Postmates already offer Apple’s mobile payments service.
Considering the company did $2.4 billion in food sales last year, and 60 percent of this was via mobile ordering, the integration is a major score for the Apple Pay platform.
Founded in 2004, GrubHub began as a website to allow users to order home delivery of food form local restaurants the offered home delivery service. Later, following a merger with rival Seamless, it began offering its own delivery service for restaurants that don’t offer their own home delivery service.
Apple told Fortune on Thursday that Apple Pay is gaining over a million new users per week, and transaction volume through the service is five times what it was a year ago. The Cupertino company also noted payment volume through Apple Pay-enabled apps more than doubled during the second half of 2015.
According to a report from Crone Consulting, Apple Pay has 12 million people users while rival services like Google’s Android Pay and Samsung Pay are tied for second place with 5 million users.
The updated GrubHub and Seamless apps can now be downloaded from the App Store.
GrubHub says their service is available in New York, Chicago, San Francisco, LA, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Hartford, Atlanta, Denver, Miami, Phoenix, Seattle or any other place that has food. (If you’re in a smaller town, you may be out of luck, nothing is available in our small, middle Tennessee town.)
Seamless service is available in New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Miami, Chicago, Houston, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.
