Apple has begun inviting its retail employees to take part in some early macOS Sierra goodness, by allowing them to participate in the beta test of Apple’s upcoming Mac operating system.
From an Apple employee memo (via 9to5Mac):
“We know you enjoy getting your hands on Apple’s latest technology. With that in mind, all team members are invited to participate in a pre-release in the macOS 10.12 seed program.”
Apple tells employees they are not required to participate, and that their involvement is voluntary, and is “not an expectation of your job.” Employees will test the new OS on their own personal Mac, presumably on their own time.
Apple unveiled macOS Sierra 10.12 earlier this week, during the company’s Worldwide Developers Conference 2016 Keynote. The newly named OS, (or as we like to call it, “the macOS formerly known as OS X”), offers Siri functionality, automatic unlocking of a Mac via an Apple Watch, a clipboard shareable across all devices,Apple Pay for the web, and much more.
The macOS Sierra beta is currently only available to developers, (and Apple Retail employees, apparently), and is expected to see a public beta release sometime in July. The final version will be released to the general public in the fall.
