NBC has been added to the list of content providers that are now included in the fourth-generation Apple TV’s Universal Search results in the United States. Universal Search allows users to search for content using their Siri Remote or via text entry, with the results offering a list of providers for a given movie or television show.
Apple announced it was opening up the Universal Search API for the Apple TV up to developers back in October, just before the debut of the new Apple TV set top box. At launch, results were available from only iTunes, Netflix, Hulu, Showtime, and HBO. Since then, the apps for all four major television networks have been added, along with Disney’s bundle of channels, PBS, FX, and more.
Currently, in most countries, only iTunes content is available in the search results. Netflix results are available in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom. All included networks are available in U.S. results.
