Macphun has released a free “Filters for Photos” app that adds an additional 30 photo filters to Photos for OS X. The filters can be launched as a standalone app, or be used as an extension in the Photos app’s Edit panels.
Vintage or black & white? Color fantasy or cross process? Oil painting or pen sketch? Get dozens of great photo filters inside Filters for Photos.
Use it as a standalone app or a Photos extension. Apply filters in real time, mix & match filters, adjust the look and even draw with filters.
There is a small catch. By default, Filters for Photos only offers 15 extensions. It’ll cost ya a signup for the Macphun newsletter to get the other 15 filters. And what’s one more email in your mailbox, right?
The app offers the ability to apply a filter to an entire photo, or just a portion of the overall image, via a masking brush. Each filter is visually striking and distinct, offering a number of cool effects to apply to your favorite photos. I’ve been playing with it (and yes, I do mean the app) this morning on coffee breaks, (and in between viewing sessions of “Deadpool”), and have been having great fun trying out the various filters.
Filters for Photos is available free, from the Macphun website.
