We’ve seen bands for the Apple Watch made of all sorts of materials: leather, metal, cloth, and silicone come to mind. However, we haven’t seen many wooden bands made available for Apple’s wearable. Ottm looks to change all that!
Ottm is the most unique Smartwatch band yet. Each one is crafted from hand-selected wood and treated with tung oil for a smooth finish. The result is a watchband that is completely unique to you, no two bands are the same. Pair it with your Apple Watch, Android Wear or Pebble Watch.
No matter which popular smartwatch you currently use, it looks as if this already full-funded Indiegogo project has something you might like. The bands are made of one of three different hardwood types: Maple, Zebrawood, Sandalwood. (An Ottm spokesperson told us Sandalwood is the clear favorite so far!)
Ottm uses a classic link bracelet design inspired by Swiss watches, each choice of wood reflects a different sentiment. Maple connotes a more subdued style with it’s straight grain and light cream color. Zebrawood hails from Western Africa with a striking grain that is both beautiful and hard to miss. Sandalwood, prized in Asia for its fragrant oils calls attention with its deep earthy hues. Due to the organic nature of wood, each band is completely unique, no two band’s grains are the same. Ottm is available in 38 and 42mm for Apple Watch and 22mm for Android Wear and Pebble.
For each band ordered, a tree will be planted in an American national forest. Ottm wants to make sure future generations can benefit from one of our most precious renewable resources.
