VentureBeat reports Apple has been reevaluating its recruiting efforts, and has been laying off its contract recruiters over the last few weeks. The publication’s source says the recruiting engine inside Apple has slowed down and the company is reevaluating its activities in that area. “You always need to have something new coming out to justify hiring,” VB’s source said.
The hardware and software maker is additionally beginning to let go of some full-time recruiters as well, a source familiar with the matter told VentureBeat. In all, more than 100 people could be affected by the moves, the source said. The company currently has no public job postings for recruiters.
Apple is not currently running any job listings for recruiters, so it apparently isn’t looking to hire any replacements for the personnel that are leaving. It is possible that Apple may be turning to an outside firm to do its recruiting, however the reduction in recruitment may have something to do with the expected sales and profit declines the company is expected to announce on Tuesday.
In addition to the reduction in its recruiting workforce, it has also reportedly changed its bonus structure, which had given recruiters a bonus of 40% of a new employee’s base salary, so that the bonus will now drop to 10-15%, and may even be eliminated entirely.
Apple did not respond to a request for a comment by VentureBeat.
