It’s an election year, so of course there is an endless runner game featuring Donald Trump, the Republican candidate you either love, or love to hate. “Donald Trump Jump – The Quest for Votes” offers either side the chance to control Mr. Trump as he battles his way through opponents, while collecting coins and power-ups along the way.
Overview
Donald Trump Jump is a continuous side scroller runner game, the only control offered is the ability to… well… make Trump Jump!
“Tap Donald to make him jump, help him collect votes and avoid the other treacherous candidates. Use Trump’s unique powers of evasion and stamina to evade those who would wish him ill will. Each jump requires coordination, timing and a desire to win!”
The object is to jump and collect the “votes” (Trump for President buttons), and evade the other candidates, who appear on the ground, much like Easter Island headstones. If you run into one of the other candidates, it’s “Trump Dump,” and GAME OVER!
While you’re usually limited to only a jump to collect votes, and avoid the other candidates, you can double-tap to regain some altitude after your initial jump. Also, you’ll occasionally see a gold coin you can grab that gives you the power of flight for a limited time. (Usually around 20 seconds.) While flying, (with fire coming from Trump’s butt), you’ll need to tap regularly to stay in the air. Tap too slow, and you’ll land, ending the flight portion of your program. Tap too quickly, and you’ll warp back to the bottom of the screen, and will need to jump and run again.
Verdict
Let me be be perfectly clear, “Donald Trump Jump – The Quest for Votes” is not a game of the year candidate. However, it is a candidate for a game that will help you kill time while waiting in line at the DMV, or to kill the last five minutes of your break. Whether you are backing Trump, or think he’s the Devil. (There doesn’t appear to be a middle ground), you’ll likely enjoy this game. And hey, it’s free.
Rating: 3.5/5.0
Price: FREE – Available for the iPhone, in the App Store.
Pros:
- It’s free, and a great time killer
- Increases speed as it goes along. Always a challenge
- The graphics are simple, but fun
Cons:
- Sometimes it’s a little unclear how you died. This is usually on the latter, faster parts of the game, so it might just be my sucky, 56-year-old reflexes and eyesight failing me
