iOS 9 is now installed on 79% of active iOS devices. That number is up a mere 2% from the February number, which had stalled at 77% from the previous month.
The 79% figure comes directly from Apple, via their newest chart, posted on the App Store support page. iOS 9 has been available for six months.
While adoption is close to stagnant at the moment, it can be expected to increase in the near future, as a new 4-inch “iPhone SE” is expected to debut later this month, and with that will come activations of the new device, which will run the latest version of iOS 9.
As for the other versions of iOS still being used, iOS 8 is still on 16% of active devices, down from 17% in February, while “earlier” versions of iOS sit at a 5% slice of the pie, down from 6% in February.
Apple is expected to release iOS 9.3 alongside the debut of the much-rumored iPhone SE, sometime following it’s march media event, on Monday, March 21.
