You kids and your fancy Apple Watches. In my day, we had to buy a Pong game console, hook it up to our black and white televisions, set our TV to channel 3, and hope we could find a second player. All it takes nowadays is an Apple Watch and un-sticky Digital Crown to play Pong whenever and wherever you want!

The free app, from developer Matt Weichec, allows player to play an endless game of Pong against a computer controlled opponent, using the Watch’s Digital Crown to move a paddle left and right across the screen. A $0.99 in-app purchase offers ten custom color schemes, (that match color options for the silicone bands Apple sells for the Watch), plus, it includes a classic playoff mode – one versus one against an AI opponent in a match where the first player to three wins.

The game plays wonderfully on the Watch, and hopefully will inspire other developers to bring more games from a simpler time in gaming to the device. A pleasant side effect of playing Pong on your Apple Watch is that it will keep your Digital Crown limber, and possibly prevent the “stickiness” some users report while using the Digital Crown.
