Fitbit has announced the latest addition to its lineup of connected wearable devices with the $130 Alta, a slim device sporting a touchscreen OLED, able to run five days on a single charge.
The Alta is available for pre-order from Fitbit, priced at $129.95. The tracker is available in black, blue, plum, or teal. The new wearable also boasts the ability to swap bands, with $60 leather versions, $100 stainless steel metal bracelets, and $29 classic band options currently available for pre-order. The company notes that “Alta Gold” and Tory Burch Designer Collection bands are coming soon.
The Alta tracks a user’s activity, steps, distance, calories burned, and activity minutes, as well as offering reminders to stay moving during the day. The wearable’s “SmartTrack” feature can automatically recognize and record a user’s exercise for the day, and can operate for 5 full days and nights before needing a charge.
The new device’s OLED “Tap Display” provides easy viewing of stats, time and notifications, (when paired with a smartphone), including call, text, and calendar alerts.
With the debut of the Alta, Fitbit appears to be going after the consumer who doesn’t usually want to wear an activity wearable outside of the gym. With it’s numerous fashion-forward bands, the new tracker is designed to convince users to wear the device, no matter if they’re in the gym, the office, or are attending a fancy shindig.
