Apple Updates Android Version of Apple Music App – Adds Ability to Save Songs to SD Cards

Apple has updated the Apple Music app for Android devices, adding the ability to save downloaded songs to an SD card. The new feature greatly increases the capacity for offline listening for devices running the Android OS.

AppleInsider:

In the latest Apple Music for Android version 0.9.5 release notes, Apple says the added SD card functionality will allow users to keep more music offline. Unlike Apple’s own iOS devices, certain Android handsets come with built-in SD card slots to expand internal storage capacities.

The update plays to a strengths of many Android devices, which is the ability to use SD or MicroSD cards to expand the storage capabilities of the device. The update also offers a full schedule of Beats 1 shows, and new browsing options for Composers and Compilations.

WHAT’S NEW

This update adds downloading songs to an SD card, so you can now keep more music offline. You can also:

  • See the full schedule of Beats 1 shows, making it easy to tune in to your favorite ones
  • Browse My Music by Composers and Compilations, which help you find music your classical albums or movie soundtracks.

Apple launched the Android version of its music streaming service in November. The new version, (0.9.5) is available as a free update from the Google Play store. A free 90-day trial of the service is still available to new users. Monthly subscriptions are $9.99 for single users, or $14.99 for a 6 user family subscription.
