While Apple is reportedly working on a way for iOS 9 users to remove unwanted stock apps, such as Stocks, or in the case of some users, the Watch app, YouTube channel videosdebarraquito has shared a trick that allows the icons of stock apps to be temporarily hidden.
Hiding Stock App Icons on iOS 9
- Hold your finger down on the app icon you want to hide until it starts to wiggle. (Just like when you’re moving or delete an app.)
- Drag the app icon onto any other app to create a folder.
- Once the icon is in the folder, lift your finger. Do NOT press the Home button.
- Drag the app icon to the second page of the folder. Now you can take your finger off the icon.
- Drag the app icon to the third page of the folder and remember to keep your finger on it.
- Drag the app icon to the edge of the folder and press the Home button simultaneously. BOOM! Bye-bye icon!
The app icons that you hide this way will stay hidden until your iOS device is restarted. So, this is a temporary solution at best, but it’ll do until Apple comes through with a way to delete the stock apps.
This is, of course, an unofficial method of dealing with this issue, and MacTrast in no way endorses the method, or is responsible for any harm that may come to your device or Home Screen. Apple may also release an update at any time that will remove the ability to perform said trick. Trick invalid in Mobile, Alabama and Fargo, North Dakota.
