Apple to Open 33rd Chinese Apple Store Later This Month in Qingdao

Apple continues to close in on its goal of 40 stores in China by the middle of 2016, as it has announced that it will open its 33rd retail location in the new MixC luxury shopping mall, in the port city of Qingdao on Saturday, January 30 at 10:00 AM local time.

The MixC mall in Qingdao includes 400 fashion stores, restaurants, cafes, and entertainment options. The mall includes an indoor theme park, complete with rollercoaster; an Olympic level ice skating rink, and an IMAX theater.

Apple’s new retail location will be open from 10:AM to 10:00PM local time on weekdays, and 10:00AM to 10:30PM on weekends.

The new store is just the latest location to be opened during  the company’s aggressive expansion phase in China, under the firm hand of retail chief Angela Ahrendts. Apple opened stores in Chongqing, Hangzhou, Hong Kong, Nanjing and Tianjin in 2015, and will open a number of new stores in the country in 2016.

China is an important market for Apple, second only to the United States. The company experienced 99% year-over-year growth in the country in the fourth fiscal quarter of 2015.
