Apple Posts New App Focused Apple TV Ad

Apple on Thursday posted a new 30-second ad spot for the fourth-generation Apple TV on its YouTube channel. The ad focuses on the many popular apps that are available via the set-top device’s tvOS App Store.

MacRumors:

Entitled “The Future of TV is Apps,” the ad features an Apple TV set-top box that morphs to match the theme of each app that’s shown off in the spot.

The ad promotes apps such as Netflix, Apple Music, WatchESPN, Disney Infinity, Showtime, HBO Now, Crossy Road, Fox Now, and more. As usual, the advertising spot ends with the brightly colored “test bars” with the Apple TV logo superimposed on them.

Apple has released a steady supply of television ads for the new Apple TV, ever since its October launch. The company has also promoted the set-top streamer via colorful billboards, web ads, and social media campaigns. Thursday’s ad is the second in a series of app-focused ads released for the device.

Apple executives have been quoted in the past as saying apps represent the future of television. Apple SVP Eddy Cue said at the Apple TV’s unveiling last fall:

“There has been so much innovation in entertainment and programming through iOS apps, we want to bring that same excitement to the television. Apps make the TV experience even more compelling for viewers and we think apps represent the future of TV.”
