Sony Exec Confirms Company is Working on PlayStation 4 Remote Play Apps for Mac and PC

If you’re the proud owner of a PlayStation 4, and wished you could stream games from the PS4 to your Mac or PC, you may be in luck. TechRadar reports that Sony is working on bringing Remote Play to both of the venerable computer platforms.

TechRadar:

It may have only been a workaround app made by a rogue developer, but when word broke that you could stream your PS4 games to PC via an unsanctioned app, gamers everywhere got a little bit excited.

In the wake of that news, Sony’s President of Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida has said that his company is working on bringing Remote Play to both the PC and Mac platforms.

The Remote Play feature of the PS4 has long been regarded as one of its best features. It allows gamers to stream gameplay to a PS Vita handheld, as well as the PlayStation TV, allowing users to use either device as a screen to play games on the console.

A similar game streaming ability has recently come to the competing Microsoft Xbox One, allowing streaming to Windows 10 devices.

There is no official word on when the new Remote Play apps will be released for the Mac or PC, but we’ll keep an eye on things and let you know when there is any more news.
