A new Apple TV ad, titled “ABC on Apple TV,” features the ABC app, and offers a 15-second dollop of ABC’s new series featuring The Muppets. The ad features a look at Up Late with Miss Piggy, the fictional late night show which the new series offers a humorous “behind-the-scenes” look at.
Kermit the Frog, donning a pair of headphones in his role as the show’s executive producer, is seen bantering backstage with Fozzie Bear, who is about to take the stage as Miss Piggy’s hype man/cohost. Fozzie tells Kermit, “you’re the man,” to which Kermit replies, “no, you’re the man.” The morale boosting back-and-forth quickly turns into an argument, hilarity ensues.
The ABC app offers streaming and on-demand access to the popular television network’s library of shows. Apple’s fourth-generation streaming box features apps from the four major television networks, ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX.
The ad is just the latest in a new series of ads featuring the Apple TV and its apps and games. Previous ads have highlighted Crossy Road, Netflix, HBO Now, Disney Infinity 3.0: Star Wars Edition, and Asphalt 8. The spots offer a quick peek at the featured app, and then cut to the interface of the new Apple TV.
Released late last month, the new Apple TV boasts a powerful A8 processor, a touch-based remote control, Siri Voice Control with Universal Search, a new App Store for the new tvOS operating system, and much-increased storage space. The new model is available in two storage configurations: 32GB and 64GB, retailing for $149 and $199, respectively.
Also available in Apple Stores are new accessories, including the new Apple TV Remote Loop, and the SteelSeries Nimbus controller.
