Apple TV Advertising Expands to Billboards in the United States

Apple is expanding its advertising campaign for the fourth-generation Apple TV set top box to beyond the “small screen,” and onto billboards around the U.S. The billboards feature the Apple TV logo, plastered over a television test pattern made up of colors from the company’s original rainbow Apple logo.

As seen in the photo, supplied by AppleInsider reader Erik, the nationwide advertising blitz mirrors a series of television commercials aired last week, each of which starts out with Apple’s take on the familiar SMPTE color bars.

Apple has released a number of 15-second TV ads, created to spotlight the tvOS App Store, a new feature that debuted with the fourth-generation Apple TV. The spots feature clips from games and apps, including Netflix, Crossy Road, HBO and more.

The most recent Apple TV ad, titled “ABC on Apple TV,” features the ABC app, and offers a 15-second dollop of ABC’s new series featuring The Muppets. The ad features a look at Up Late with Miss Piggy, the fictional late night show which the new series offers a humorous “behind-the-scenes” look at.

Released in late October, the new Apple TV boasts a powerful A8 processor, a touch-based remote control, Siri Voice Control with Universal Search, a new App Store for the new tvOS operating system, and much-increased storage space. The new model is available in two storage configurations: 32GB and 64GB, retailing for $149 and $199, respectively.

Also available in Apple Stores are the new accessories, including the new Apple TV Remote Loop, and the SteelSeries Nimbus controller.
