During a speaking appearance at Monday night’s WSJDLive conference, Apple CEO Tim Cook announced the new Apple TV will begin shipping next week. Orders will be taken beginning Monday, October 26, and shipments will begin by the end of the week.
The new streamer features an all new interface, an A8 processor, 32GB and 64GB storage options, Universal Search, a new Siri remote with touch features, a new tvOS operating system, and gaming capabilities.
Also new is a full App Store, offering games, entertainment and other types of apps to Apple TV users for the first time ever. The new Siri Remote, equipped with a touch pad control, which will allow viewers to easily search for their favorite content, via Universal Search, which will return results from all compatible apps and services.
The new, fourth-generation Apple TV will retail for $149 for a 32GB storage model, and $199 for a unit with 64GB of storage.
