First Untethered Jailbreak now Available for iOS 9

The first untethered jailbreak is now available for iOS 9 devices. Chinese jailbreak team Pangu released the jailbreak on Wednesday. It is available for all iOS 9 devices, including the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.

MacRumors:

The jailbreak tool is currently available for Windows only, but an OS X version will likely be available for Mac users in the future.

Pangu is compatible with the following devices running iOS 9 – iOS 9.0.2:

  • iPhone 4S, 5/5c/5s, 6/6 Plus, 6s/6s Plus
  • iPad 2/3/4, iPad Air, iPad Air 2, iPad mini, iPad mini 2/3/4
  • iPod touch (fifth and sixth generations)

Jailbreaking an iOS device opens it up to allow the installation of third-party apps that haven’t been vetted by Apple’s official App Store. Users can install third-party apps, tweaks, themes, and other content via “packages” from Cydia, the App Store alternative for jailbroken devices.

We recommend that you backup your device’s data to iTunes or iCloud before attempting any jailbreak, as there is always the possibility of data loss, or of bricking your iOS device.

Also, keep in mind that jailbreaking a device puts you out there on the edge, making your device more vulnerable to crashes and security risks. And of course, it violates Apple’s End User License Agreement, and could possibly void any warranty you have left on your device. Also, look both ways before crossing the street, and never take candy from strangers, but if you do, make sure its the really good chocolate candy, and not any of that Now & Later chewy taffy crap.
