Apple on Tuesday seeded the fourth beta of iOS 9.1 to registered developers. In addition they also released beta 3 of tvOS, and beta 3 of Xcode 7.1.
The new iOS 9.1 beta – build 13B136 – is available both as an over-the-air update and via download through the Apple Developer Center.
OS 9.1 adds support for the upcoming iPad Pro, including support for the SmartKeyboard, and Apple Pencil. Both accessories, and iOS 9.1, are due to be released alongside the new tablet in November. iOS 9.1 also includes support for Unicode 8, with new emoji, including a taco, a burrito, unicorn, hot dog, a middle finger, and more.
While iOS 9.1 is currently only available to developers and members of the public beta program, it is expected to be released to the public in November, alongside the iPad Pro.
tvOS beta 3 – build 13T5379f – is available via download from the Apple Developer Center as is Xcode 7.1 beta 3 – build 7B85.
The tvOS beta is for use on pre-release hardware, supplied to registered developers in the form of Apple TV Developer Kits. A second round of developer kits were released to a number of developers late last week, for delivery this week.
Xcode 7.1 beta 3 is the Xcode developer toolset for building apps that run on Apple TV, Apple Watch, iPhone, iPad, and Mac. It includes the Xcode IDE, simulators, and all the required tools and frameworks to build apps for iOS, watchOS, tvOS, and OS X.
