What a Difference 1GB Makes! Video Shows Benefits of 2GB RAM in New iPhone 6s

When Apple debuted the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus a few weeks back, they neglected to mention the new handsets boasted 2GB of RAM, double that of the previous generation. The increased RAM allows the iPhone to keep more data active for apps in memory. This results in better performance.

iDownloadBlog recorded the video below, demonstrating the difference in performance for Safari with several websites loaded on an iPhone 6, with 1GB of RAM, and an iPhone 6s with 2GB of RAM onboard.

As seen in the video, The iPhone 6s is able to keep more website tabs active in memory, so it doesn’t require a reload of the tab when returning to it like the iPhone 6 does, offering a nice performance increase, and doing away with the frustrating reload times of the iPhone 6.

The extra 1GB of RAM in this generation’s iPhone should offer a similar, if less noticeable performance increase in a many apps running on the new devices.
