We have more iPhone 7 production channel rumors for you, because it’s never too early to report new rumors… Right? Apple supplier TSMC has reportedly secured exclusive orders for the A10 chip, which will be used in the iPhone 7.
The China Times (via G4Games) reports that TSMC will begin mass production of the A10 sometime in March 2016, in preparation for the iPhone 7 which will launch in the fourth quarter of 2016. The A10 chip will be based on a 16-nanometer manufacturing process.
TSMC and Samsung are both reportedly sharing production of the A9 chip, which is used in Apple’s brand-new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus handsets. The iPad Pro uses a more powerful A9X processor.
China Times noted that TSMC will continue producing the A8 chip, which is used in the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, 6th-generation iPod touch, and the new Apple TV, due to hit shelves in October.
As usual, the standard caveats apply, including the usual “RUMORS!” warnings, grain of salt disclaimers, and the ever popular “who knows what the hell will really happen” qualifiers. Take only as needed. Your mileage may vary, etc.
We personally hope TSMC does get the exclusive A10 contract, maybe then they can afford a more modern logo…
