Report: No October Apple Event to be Held This Year

While we’re expecting multiple product announcements at today’s big event, no one was sure whether Apple would indeed debut the new iPad Pro and iPad mini 4 tablets at the shindig. Apple normally holds an October event to show off its new tablets.

Report: No Apple October Event to be Held This Year

9to5Mac:

Some people were confused about why Apple is stuffing so many announcements into one event. Having called a single event “not logical” earlier in the day, Daring Fireball’s John Gruber now agrees with our prior reports: breaking tradition, there won’t be an October event this year.

While first calling a single event “inexplicable” earlier in the day, Gruber posted to his blog last night that his sources claim there will only be one fall event in 2015.

Lot of little birdies out tonight in San Francisco. The consensus is that there’s only going to be one Apple event this fall, and it’s tomorrow. So if there’s an iPad Pro, it’s coming tomorrow, no matter how much or how little sense that makes.

While it still seems a bit odd for Apple to break with tradition, and to not hold another event in October, Gruber has great sources, so it’s likely that this will be THE event for 2015.

Apple is expected to debut their new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus handsets, alongside those, we expect to see a fourth-generation Apple TV, the debut of iOS 9, and possibly a new 12.9-inch iPad Pro and accompanying accessories, an iPad mini 4, as well as new Apple Watch bands, and possibly new finishes for theApple Watch.

The big event begins at 1PM Eastern/10AM Pacific, and Apple will provide a livestream of the event, which will be available to users of iOS devices, Macs,Apple TVs, and PCs. For those of you who can’t access the livestream, join us here at MacTrast, where we’ll be liveblogging the event, and reporting on all of the announcements following the event.
