Offline Viewing Now Available in Amazon Instant Video App for iOS

Amazon announced on Tuesday that it has updated its Amazon Instant Video app for iOS and Android device to allow offline viewing of television shows and movies.

Re/code:

Amazon has already offered that feature for a couple of years, but only for its own Fire tablets. Now it’s making a big leap forward by offering the capability for iPhones, iPads and Android devices.

The feature will allow users to download content from the Prime video service for viewing when a Wi-Fi connection is not available for streaming. While not every bit of content on Amazon Prime is available for offline viewing, Amazon says “thousands” of videos will support the service. (The company is still working on deals with some of the content providers, who are likely holding out for more money.)

Users will usually have 15 to 30 days to view content once it has been downloaded to a device, although that can vary according to the content.

Amazon Prime Video is part of Amazon’s $99 per-year Prime service, which also offers music, and free two-day shipping. A free 30-day trial is available at the Amazon.com website.

The Amazon Instant Video app for iOS devices is free, and is available in the iOS App Store. [GET IT HERE]
