Although the new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are ever so slightly thicker and taller than last year’s iPhones, cases designed for the 6 and 6 Plus should fit the new handsets just fine.
Apple’s website notes that both its leather and silicone cases for the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus will also fit the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, respectively. All four handsets are being sold by the company simultaneously, and the official Apple cases are confirmed to fit both the iPhone 6 series and the 6s lineup.
The iPhone 6s Plus is 6.23 inches tall, compared to 6.22 inches for last year’s model. The new handset is also slightly wider, 3.07 inches, compared to the iPhone 6 Plus’s 3.06 inch width. The 6s and 6s Plus are both slightly thicker than their predecessors, at 0.28-inch and 0.29-inch, respectively.
Apple isn’t the first to confirm that its iPhone 6 and 6 Plus cases will fit the new phones, as case maker Speck indicated their cases would work just fine via their Facebook page last week.
We imagine other case makers will be scurrying to assure customers that their iPhone 6 and 6s Plus cases will fit the new models correctly, and as we hear from them we’ll add their names to this article.
