When Apple Pay launched in the U.K. earlier this summer, notably missing form the list of supporting banks was Lloyds. However, it appears they may soon be joining the Apple Pay support rolls.
As noted by several readers, U.K. residents can now add a Lloyds card to your Wallet, and almost complete the process, but the app presents an error at the end when you are presented with the terms and conditions…
This is a change from the previous “Your Issuer Does Not Yet Offer Support for This Card” error received by Lloyds customers when they tried to add a card to Apple Pay.
Also still missing from the Apple Pay U.K. roster is Barclays. While the bank has said that it is “really excited” about Apple’s contactless payments system, and will support it in the future, it has yet to announce a specific launch date for that support.
Earlier this week, the UK Card Association announced that the limit for Apple Pay and other forms of contactless payments has been raised to £30 per transaction in the United Kingdom.
Apple Pay debuted in the United Kingdom six weeks ago, and is supported by credit card issuers Visa, MasterCard and American Express. UK banks offering Apple Pay to customers include: First Direct, HSBC, MBNA, Nationwide, NatWest, Royal Bank of Scotland, Santander and Ulster Bank.
