Apple environmental head Lisa P. Jackson announced the Cupertino firm has given London’s historic Roundhouse – the venue for the Apple Music Festival which runs through September 28th – an “environmental makeover.”
Apple FAQ, via MacRumors:
We’re making major upgrades to the lighting, plumbing, and HVAC systems; installing recycling and composting bins; arranging to turn used fryer oil into biofuel; buying renewable energy credits to cover the Roundhouse’s September electricity use; and offering reusable water bottles instead of plastic ones.
The updates are expected to reduce the Roundhouse’s annual emissions by 60 tons, save 60,000 gallons of water a year, and keep more than 1,600 kilograms of waste from ending up in landfills.
The Apple Music Festival continues through September 28th, One Direction hits the stage tonight, while The Weeknd, The Chemical Bothers, Disclosure, Pharrell Williams, Mumford and Sons, and Florence + The Machine are scheduled to appear through the festival’s run.
