Report: “iPhone 6s” to Feature Apple Watch Animated Wallpapers

Animated wallpapers – similar to the “Motion” watch faces seen on the Apple Watch – will be a feature of the upcoming “iPhone 6s,” and “iPhone 6s Plus,” says a new report from 9to5Mac.

9to5Mac:

Apple is preparing to bring some motion from the Apple Watch to the iPhone 6S. One of the new device’s differentiators over its predecessor will likely be a spiced up set of animated wallpapers, according to three sources who have used internal iPhone 6S prototypes within Apple. The new animated wallpapers come from the same family as the set of “Motion” watch faces that dominate the main screen of the Apple Watch, where the user can choose from jellyfish, multi-colored butterflies, or brightly colored flowers.

The report says the new motion wallpapers range from an animated fish in a koi pond, to various colors of smoke. As always in cases such as this, 9to5Mac’s sources do warn that the feature could always be dropped at the last minute, but the fish in a koi pond mention weirdly relates to the photo published this morning of what is allegedly a box for the upcoming “iPhone 6s Plus” which sports a gold koi pond fish wallpaper on the iPhone that is depicted on the box.

Apple’s new iPhones are expected to debut at an Apple media event on September 9th. If the usual timing applies for the new handsets, they’ll hit stores around September 18th.

Again, we must mention: Rumors, grain of salt, things change, your mileage may vary, the usual disclaimers. You know the drill by now.
