Apple Music lead executive and former Beats Music CEO Ian Rogers has left Apple, resigning a scant two months after the launch of the streaming music service. Apple confirmed Rogers’ departure to the Financial Times today.
Rogers, and other Beats executives, joined Apple last year when the Cupertino firm acquired Beats in a deal worth $3 billion. MacRumors notes that Rogers’ official title was Senior Director of Apple Music, a position he held since August 2014.
Rogers left Apple to join an as yet unnamed “Europe-based company in an unrelated industry” on the west coast. Rogers was instrumental in luring Beats 1 DJ Zane Lowe away from BBC Radio.
Rogers, a music industry veteran, ran the music streaming service at Beats before it was acquired by Apple. Prior to that, he ran Topspin, a music service that helps artists interact with their fans.
