Apple has released the seventh beta of OS X 10.11 El Capitan to developers. Public beta users will also be glad to know that the fifth public beta is once again available, following its being pulled soon after an apparently premature release on Tuesday.
The developer seed, build 15A263e, is available via the “Update” tab in the Mac App Store, or it can also be downloaded from the Apple Developer Center.
Yesterday’s aborted release of the fifth public beta reportedly included a color version of the OS X logo in the About This Mac screen, a new Safari welcome screen, and a new setting to disable the “Shake mouse pointer to locate” feature, so today’s developer release will likely contain the same changes.
The release of El Capitan is intended as a refinement of OS X Yosemite, although it also offers new features, including Split View, a tweaked Mission Control, improved built-in apps, and other minor tweaks.
OS X 10.11 El Capitan is currently only available for download to registered developers and public beta testers. The new Mac operating system is scheduled for release to the public in the fall.
