The Showtime network is now available on Apple TV. The new service doesn’t require a cable subscription, and will cost viewers $11 per month, following a 30-day free trial.
In addition to coming to Apple TV, a new Showtime app that does not require a cable login is also hitting the iOS App Store. The app is not live yet, although it should rollout soon. The same $11/mo charge applies to it, as well.
The Showtime Anytime channel has been available on Apple TV since last year. However, it required a cable login to allow viewing of the content. The app was an on-demand option for viewers who subscribe to the Showtime package on their cable boxes.
Showtime had announced earlier this year that a standalone Apple TV channel was on its way, and today marks the kickoff day. The new Showtime channel is currently Apple TV-only, but will arrive on other set top boxes, including the Roku, as well as Sony’s Vue service, later this week.
