If you’re a user of Realmac’s Ember scrapbook application for the Mac, you’ll be glad to know the company has some big plans for updating the app. In a Thursday post on the Realmac blog, the company laid out the app’s future.
“In the next 6 – 8 weeks, we’ll be releasing a free-to-use public beta of Ember 2. We want to make Ember the best it can be, and we don’t want to build it in isolation from the people who use, love, and advocate for the app.”
The company notes that this will be a Mac focused beta, and Ember for iOS will not be returning. Ember 2 will not work with the discontinued iOS Ember app.
The company’s main goal with the public beta of Ember 2 involves the syncing functions. Realmac is looking to improve the perfomance of sync, as well as opening it up to other cloud services in addition to the current iCloud and Dropbox options.
Multiple libraries is also on the agenda, with the ability to place an Ember library on the chosen cloud service.
