Apple has released an update to its iTunes media manager. iTunes 12.2.1 fixes a critical issue that caused matched music tracks in iTunes Match to be converted to Apple Music DRM-protected content.
Users had saw their iTunes Match, non-DRM-protected music tracks converted to Apple Music DRM-protected content after subscribing to Apple’s new streaming music service. Tracks linked to Apple Music are copy protected, and a user loses the ability to play such tracks if they allow their Apple Music subscription to lapse.
The update also provides a way to correct a library problem affecting former iTunes Match subscribers, as well as minor bug fixes and improvements for Beats 1.
The 12.2.1 update can be downloaded via the “Updates” tab in the Mac App Store. Windows owners can grab the update via the Apple Software Update Tool. Both Mac and Windows users can download the update via direct download.
