Greek Financial Crisis: Apple Gives Greek iCloud Customers 30 Extra Days of Storage

In the midst of the ongoing Greek financial crisis, the capital controls the Greek government has slapped on residents preventing them from making payments abroad means Greek iCloud subscribers have been unable to make payments to renew their premium storage plans.

While Apple last week sent Greek subscribers an email warning them their premium storage would be cut off if their subscriptions were not renewed, Apple has now sent an email (via iPhoneHellas) to its Greek customers, informing them their plans have been extended for an extra 30 days at no additional cost.

Dear iCloud customer,

To prevent interruption in your iCloud service during the current fiscal crisis, and to make sure you have access to your content, we’ve extended your iCloud storage plan for an extra 30 days at no additional cost.

We won’t attempt to charge you for your plan until 30 days after your original renewal date. If we are unable to renew your plan, you may need to reduce the amount of iCloud storage you use.

The iCloud Team

MacRumors notes that Greek customers can still renew an iCloud storage plan with an iTunes gift card.
