Apple on Wednesday seeded the third beta of iOS 9 to developers for testing. The beta comes just over two weeks after the release of beta 2. The mobile iOS debuted at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference in June.
The beta three release, build 13A4293g, is available as an over the air update for developers who have beta 2 installed on their devices, or as a download from the Apple Developer Center.
As was promised on Twitter by Apple SVP Eddy Cue, today’s beta does include the updated Music app, allowing iOS 9 beta users to access the new Apple Music service, as well as the Beats 1 radio station. Also included in today’s seed is the new News app.
Issues continue with iCloud Drive, Keyboards, Keychain, Maps, Mail, MDM, Music, Photos, Podcasts, Safari, Search, Siri, and Settings, as well as a number of other issues.
The iOS 9 update has so far concentrated on making users’ devices more intelligent and proactive. Siri is more intelligent, and Spotlight search is also improved . Also improved are many of the built-in apps, including Notes, Reminders, Maps, and Mail.
The new OS also includes new iPad-only features, such as spit-screen multitasking for the iPad, as well as picture-in-a-picture and a revamped keyboard.
Currently, iOS 9 beta 2 is available only to developers, however Apple plans a public beta of its new mobile operating system later this month. The public release of iOS 9 is scheduled for the fall.
