Apple on Wednesday released Mac mini EFI Firmware Update v1.8 for late-2012 Mac mini models, designed to fix an issue that could prevent USB keyboards from being recognized when the Mac wakes from sleep.
The update is a recommended download for all late-2012 Mac mini owners (and their computers). The update is a 4.8MB download, and is available via the “Update” tab in the Mac App Store, or via direct download from Apple’s support website.
This update marks the third firmware update the 2012 mini has received since it was released. A December 2012 update addressed an issue where HDMI video would flicker. The second update, released in June of this year, was a security fix designed to fix a bug where EFI could potentially be overwritten without authorization.
The 2012 Mac mini was replaced by the current Mac mini in 2014.
