TaiG, the jailbreaking team out of China, has released an untethered jailbreak tool for iOS 8.3. The Windows-only tool works with compatible iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices. TaiG 2.0 supports iOS 8.1.3 – iOS 8.3.
TaiG warns that some jailbreak tweaks are not compatible with iOS 8.3 as Jay Freeman (saurik) has yet to update Cydia Substrate/Mobile Substrate to be compatible with the latest jailbreak. An iOS 8.3 jailbreak tool for OS X has not been released.
Jailbreaking an iOS device opens it up to allow the installation of third-party apps that haven’t been vetted by Apple’s official App Store. Users can install third-party apps, tweaks, themes, and other content via “packages” from Cydia, the App Store alternative for jailbroken devices.
We recommend that you backup your device’s data to iTunes or iCloud before attempting any jailbreak, as there is always the possibility of data loss, or of bricking your iOS device.
Also, keep in mind that jailbreaking a device puts you out there on the edge, making your device more vulnerable to crashes and security risks. And of course, it violates Apple’ End User License Agreement, and could possible void any warranty you have left on your device. Look both ways before crossing the street, and never take candy from strangers, even if they’re driving a really nice panel van.
