A number of customers who have ordered Space Gray and Space Black Apple Watches are reporting they have received notifications that their Watches are being readied for shipment. Customers who chose a model with a link bracelet or modern buckle are also being notified.
A number of AppleInsider readers have tipped us to the shipment notifications, which began appearing Tuesday afternoon. Shipping of the more complicated models — both the space gray and space black versions feature an additional anodizing step, while the link bracelet is an intricate design — indicates that Apple could be on the verge of catching up with initial demand.
The space gray and space black models have caused the most consternation amongst Apple Watch customers, as few have shipped so far, even for those that ordered them at midnight on launch day.
Apple continues to catch up with demand, as Sport Watches initially slated for a June delivery date are already showing as being prepared for shipment.
Apple’s new wearable is expected to be available at Apple retail stores for in-store purchase sometime this summer, although an official announcement on that hasn’t as yet been made.
