Kate Spade Partners With Everpurse to Create iPhone Charging Purses

Designer bag maker Kate Spade & Co. has teamed up with startup Everpurse to create a collection of designer bags that will double as a power supply for the iPhone.

WSJ:

Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Mary Beech said Kate Spade & Co. is “committed to digital innovation,” and designing for “customers who live a life on-the-go.”

Beech noted that everyone can relate to a mobile device’s battery running low, and having to beg a co-worker for their charger, or having to battle for a wall outlet at a busy airport. The new designer bag collection is designed to address just those types of first-world problems.

Kate Spade and Everpurse co-developed the new collection of bags in an exhaustive process that took roughly 10 months. The collection will be available this September, and includes clutches, wristlets, totes and backpacks – that will be sold at Kate Spade New York stores, Kate Spade online, Nordstrom and Everpurse.com.

Bags will be priced between $198 and $698. The bags will have the ability to charge all iPhone models, from the iPhone 5 up through the iPhone 6 Plus. Users won’t plug the bags themselves into a wall outlet to charge them, they will instead rest on a charging mat to wirelessly charge the battery inside the bag.

Everpurse co-founder and Chief Technology Officer Dan Salcedo notes a fully charged purse should last a typical iPhone user for two days or so before requiring charging.
