Google introduced it’s Android-only Cardboard virtual reality platform last year, and today at its Google I/O event, has announced that it has expanded the inexpensive VR “headset” to the iPhone.
The Google Cardboard app will now allow iPhone users to create an inexpensive virtual reality headset from a piece of cardboard and their iPhone 5, 5c, 5s, 6, or 6 Plus. The app will allow users to explore virtual environments, virtual kaleidoscopes, even explore museums of walk through cities around the world.
The Google Cardboard app can be downloaded for the iPhone from the App Store, and several third-party companies offer pre-assembled Cardboard viewers, with pricing starting at $20. Google also makes available instructions for users who want to try their hand at making their own Cardboard headset.
