Apple has slightly increased its lead as the number one smartphone maker in the United States, says a report from comScore. The iPhone increased its market share by one point in calendar Q1 2015, grabbing 42.6% of the market.
Samsung took second, with 28.3% – down 1.4%. LG, Motorola, and HTC rounded out the top five, as smartphone ownership in the U.S. increased by 3% to 187.5 million people.
Android kept its top spot as most popular mobile platform, grabbing a 52.4% piece of the market pie, while iOS took second with 42.6%. Windows, BlackBerry and Symbian remained basically irrelevant, totaling just 5% between the three platforms.
As far as iOS and Android apps go, comScore showed Facebook as the most popular app, installed on 69.6% of all smartphones. YouTube placed with 55.9%, while Google Play, Google Search, and Facebook Messenger filled out the remaining spots in the top five.
