BitTorrent has debuted its Bleep app, which offers iOS and Mac users peer-to-peer communication, with end-to-end encryption. Messages are sent directly to and from users, with nothing stored in the cloud.
For text messages and photos, Bleep offers the choice of Whispers – where both text and images disappear when they’ve been read – and Messages, which stores them locally on the device. You can also make voice calls with the same peer-to-peer encrypted technology.
As usual, it should be noted that anything that appears on the screen of your iOS device can be screen captured, so always keep that in mind when using apps such as Bleep.

While Apple’s own iMessage and FaceTime offerings also offer end-to-end encryption, Bleep adds the added security of direct peer-to-peer communication, with nothing stored in the cloud along the way.
The video below demonstrates how Bleep works. The iOS Bleep app is available as a free download from the App Store, while the Mac app is available for download at the Bleep website. Bleep is also available for both the Android and Windows platforms.
